Reception Jingle Bells

Reception Snow is Falling

Reception Little Donkey 1

Week beginning 6th December

This week we have started our new phonics groups. The children are working really hard at learning their sounds and blending. If they have them, please help them to practise at home by reading their Ditty sheet or Blending book every night.

Blending books need to stay in their book bags please so we can exchange them each week.

Please keep practising the Fred talk (see links below)

We have also been working hard to make decorations, write a winter poem and a letter to Santa and of course recording our Christmas songs to share with you. These will be on Facebook and this page soon.

We hope you enjoy them

Week beginning 29th November.

This week it has started to look like Christmas in Reception with decorations going up and some Christmas themed activities. We have also finished learning about woodland animals and how squirrels prepare for the winter.

Next week we will be learning about the Christmas story and why we celebrate Christmas.

All of the children have now been reassessed in phonics and will be working in their new groups from Monday. We will be sending a letter home with more information about this and what you can do at home to support their learning.

Please continue reading with your children at home, it has a huge impact on their learning and can be a fun social time with them. Also can you continue encouraging your children to dress independently and practice putting on their coats independently.

Week Beginning 22nd November.

This week we have explored the natural materials we found on the field using it to make art work. We have also enjoyed making kites and decorations for the trees that are now at the entrance to our reading corner.

Next week we are going to find out more about animals that live in the local environment and what they need to keep healthy at this time of year.

We will also be putting the Christmas decorations up in our Christmas cafe and beginning to make more decorations for the classroom.

All the children will be reassessed for their phonics and may move into new groups. If your child has a 'ditty sheet' please continue to practise every night. Some children also have simple blending books they are bringing home please make sure they stay in their bags so we can change them.

As it gets colder children are obviously wearing more layers, please practise helping them to do up and undo their own coats as well as put on hats and gloves and ensure that everything is named. Thank you.

Week Beginning 15th November.

It has been a strange week with the closure for two days. Thank you to those of you who completed the home learning task. There was some lovely work from some of the children.

We are now in two groups for phonics.

If your child is in Mr Diplock's group- they are consolidating all their single letter sounds and beginning to blend. Please make sure you hear them read their ditty sheet each evening.

If your child is in Mrs Nolan's group they are revisiting the first 16 sounds. Please look at the videos mentioned previously and help them to practise.

We had a fantastic walk on the field today and have found lots of great sticks and leaves to make art work from next week.

On the field

Week beginning November 1st.

Welcome back.

We hope you had a lovely half term.

Please remember to return your child's P.E kit and ensure it is named.

This week we have been learning about Diwali and bonfire night. We have made rangoli patterns in different media and made diva lamps.

We have also learned the sounds r,j,v,y and w. Please encourage your children to find things beginning with these sounds at home. Click the link below to hear how to make the pure sounds.

There is also a film here which tells you how to support your child to begin to blend their sounds.
