Term 4

25th February

We have had a fantastic first week back and have been so pleased with how well the children have settled back into the routines of the day.

This week we have started looking at our new topic of "What is an explorer?" As part of this we have been learning about pirates including our fun filled pirate WOW day today where we have made, eye patches, hats, hooks, boats and pirate biscuits. We hope you enjoy looking at some of the photos below.

We have also been learning a sea shanty and we hope you enjoy watching this on tapestry.

We have also started reading our new book:

My Granny is a Pirate

We have enjoyed the start of the story so far and have made predictions and drawn our own treasure maps.

In our maths lessons we have been finding one more and one less than a number using a range of different resources to help us.

We have had another very busy week in reception.

On Tuesday we celebrated pancake day. We made pancakes and then tested different toppings and voted on our favourite flavour. In the afternoon we had pancake races with the left over pancakes.

We loved all of your World book day costumes on Thursday and had a fantastic day celebrating books.

11th March 2022

We have been working so hard in reception this week. We have been working on creating number sentences using tens frames and counters to support us.

We have carried on finding out about explorers and have made a pirate ship in our outside area and a desert island in our role play area. We have made lots of props to go with it.

We have also been learning about Spring and have been outside looking for signs that spring is on the way and have created some fantastic spring flower paintings.

25th March 2022

We have had another fabulous week in reception this week, the children have been working really hard on their writing and have made predictions about our new text On the way home.

We have continued finding out more about Easter and how it is celebrated, this week we made hot cross buns which we hope the children enjoyed being able to bring home to eat.

We have spent lots of time in our garden, in the lovely spring sunshine completing lots of our learning outside.
