Term 5

Week 3

We have had a fabulous week in reception. This week we looked at the Arcimboldo, who created art work made of fruits and vegetables.

We have had so much fun creating our own and we hope you enjoy the pictures of our work.

This week we have also welcomed some caterpillars into our room and we have been watching them closely and observing how they change.  We will keep you posted on their progress.

Thank you to those who have been reading at home with your children.

Please continue to do so and record in their reading records so that we can see how they are getting on and celebrate their success with them.

Please remember to send your child in wearing sun cream and with a sun hat now that the weather is getting warmer.

We have had so much fun this week designing and then making our own Superveg to help Supertato on his exciting missions against Evil Pea. We hope you like the pictures of some of our models.

We have also been exploring 2D and 3D shapes, describing their properties and sorting them in different ways.

The children have been looking at Plants, what they need to grow and the different parts of a plant. They have planted some beans in bags so that we can watch the seed sprout.

We have been working really hard on blending in our phonics sessions and all children should be coming home with something to read that is at the correct level for them. Please try and read this with them, write in their reading record and make sure these books are kept in book bags so that we change them for you.

There is a large pile of un-named clothes in the classroom, please make sure that all clothes are labelled so that we can ensure that everything is returned to the correct owner.

Also just a reminder that PE is on a Wednesday and children need to have PE kit in school.

Making Superveg

Welcome to term five!

This term we will be looking at different plants and monitoring how they grow and what they need to grow.

This week, we have been exploring the plants in our outside area and the field. We have created a garden center role play area and have been creating bouquets of flowers and writing labels.

We have also started reading a new book this week, the children have been very excited to start Supertato and we are very excited to find out what the evil pea will be getting up to.

Please make sure you put sun cream on your child before sending them into school as we spend a great deal of our time outside.
