Term 6

Math

This term in maths, we are continuing to use the NCTEM recovery resources in connection with the National Curriculum to develop our mathematical reasoning and understandings around number, place value and a secure knowledge in mental mathematics. We will focus on place value within 100.

Reading

Don't forget that we encourage children to read at least three times a week. Children should bring home two books a week, a Monday and the other on a Wednesday. If you have any questions please come see the Year one term.

Science:

Over this term we will be focusing on working scientifically in order to designing and performing different experiments linking with this year topics. We will be revisiting and securing our understanding of plants and materials.

Geography,

This term we will be focusing on Geography continuing our topic "Who's the king of the castle".  Our big concept questions will be What can a geographer learn from different sources? We will be looking closely at the local maps to identify different castles in the surrounding areas.

PE

This term we will be having two PE session this term, Monday and Friday. Please make sure that children come in full PE kit. This should include; T-shirt, Shorts and PE shoes.

Please make sure everything is named in case it gets lost.

House keeping,

Just a little reminder we are in the last term of year one, all children must be in the correct uniform including school shoes not trainers as well as this children are expected to have a bookbag every day including PE day. Don't forget to name all items.

Children should all have a water bottles with them everyday especial in the hot weather.

Please do not bring in sun cream. Please apply at home this should last the whole school day. This is due to allergies we do not encourage children to self apply at school.

There has been a high amount of toys coming in please can we remind you that we don't promote this as these often get lost or cause upset when not shared with others. Therefore toys in school will be kept somewhere safe and given back at the end of the week.
