Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll
Our class text this year is Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll. The text is about when Lillian Kaye finds a parcel on her grandad's doorstep, she is shocked to see who sent it: a famous Egyptologist, found dead that very morning, according to every newspaper in England!
In Destination Reader, we will be reading this text on a daily basis and examining how the author maintains a 1920's setting through her choice of language and setting descriptions.
Our science topic this term is called 'Properties and changes of materials'. In this topic, we will be studying:
• compare and group together everyday materials based on their properties in relation to conductivity (electrical and thermal), and response to magnets.
• compare and group together everyday materials based on their properties in relation to hardness and transparency.
• give reasons, based on evidence from comparative and fair tests, for the particular uses of everyday materials, including metals, wood and plastic.
• compare and group together everyday materials based on their properties in relation to solubility.
