PGL - Day 3
Thu 30 Jun 2022On Wednesday, the children of group 1 took part in their final activities at PGL. They started off the morning by trying to climb to the top of Jacob's ladder. It was great to see the children stay positive and persevere to reach the top despite the poor weather conditions. The final activity of the morning was Archery. They all learnt the correct stance for holding a bow and arrow and how to fire it correctly. Then we had to say goodbye to group 1.
Group 1 had been absolutely amazing these past three days. Mr Bond and Mrs Phillips were really impressed with all the children. Every child had a go at completing every activity showing across the three days great 'teamwork and leadership' skills and they should all be proud of what they have accomplished on this school trip.
After lunch, we welcomed 'group 2' who settled into camp life very quickly. They were introduced to their new camp leader 'Cam' who played games with the children and gave them a tour of the PGL site.
The first activity of the day was 'All aboard'. The year 5 team were really impressed that all the children attempted the activity, and it was great to see so many children manage to reach the top of the tower. The instructor commented to me that the children were "brilliant at supporting and cheering on their classmates".
Then it was Group 2's turn to have a go at Fencing. This was a popular activity with the children, and they enjoyed learning about the correct stances of fencing and how to take part in a sword fight properly.
After dinner, the children split into teams and took part in 'Robot Wars'. This was led by our Camp leader Cam who told me he was really impressed with the designs and outfits that the children created.

PGL -Group 1 day 2
Wed 29 Jun 2022Day 2 of PGL is now complete. The children enjoyed the first night in their cabins and enjoyed their 'Full English' breakfast in the morning 🙂.
The first activity of the day was Aeroball, which is a cross between basketball and trampolining. The children really enjoyed competing in teams and seeing who could score the most. We then moved on to 'The Giant Swing'. The year 5 team were proud that all the children took part in this activity and that some of the children even pushed themselves to go even higher on their second attempt.
After lunch, the children took part in 'sensory trail'. The children were blindfolded and had to lead each other around an obstacle course. Mr Bond and Mrs Phillips were really impressed with the children showing great teamwork and leadership skills during this activity. Then we moved to a game of 'Capture the flag' and the instructor commented to the year 5 team how impressed she was with their ability to "work together".
In the evening, the children had a campfire where they played games and learnt a range of different songs from the instructors.

Sun Exposure
Wed 15 Jun 202215th June 2022
Dear Parent/Guardian
Exposure to the Sun
It is expected that your child, during the school day, will be exposed to the sun.
To protect the skin from any harmful effects, it is recommended that pupils wear sun hats and bring a refillable water bottle so they can stay hydrated. The application of an appropriate sunscreen before school will help to protect the skin. I am sure you understand that it would not be appropriate for staff to apply sunscreen to pupils. It is requested that you do not send sun protection products into school with your child.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Richardson
Acting Head of School
